[ glass cat | speculo felem ]
♚ HISTORY ♚
Once upon a time, the universe was encased in a large, circular glass bottle. it was said the bottle provided safety from monsters that roamed across galaxies. speculo was the name given to this glass spirit. people imagined him as a cat that roamed across the surface of the glass, protecting his universe. thanks to him, the universe lived in peace and harmony.
But his powers were becoming weak, and the bottle began to crack and crack... he knew he could no longer retain the safety the bottle gave, and used the last morsel of his power to create smaller, weaker copies of himself - glass cats. these copies created terrains for the people to live in. as the last organisms were led into the glass cats, speculo's bottle shattered, and his universe was obliterated.
The organisms within the universe all survived, thanks to speculo's sacrifice. these glass cats' terrariums formed five separate worlds. the people began to worship these glass cats and created their own glass statues to replicate them. but with magic, these cats turned into real glass cats. they each served a purpose, such as plant pots for gardens and cookie jars for the pantry.
Now, glass cats are viewed as pets, and millions of kinds exist. but they served an important part of life in the past, and are well respected, loyal companions!
♚ ANATOMY ♚
GLASS
- outer body part + eyes are made of magical glass - the glass cat can move the glass to its will, allowing it to move without a joined glass body - can be drawn with joints though
- only specialty glasscats can change their entire body shape however
- the glass is thick and prone to most damage but can still crack or shatter to high impact or drastic temperature changes - handle with care!
FILLING
- the term for whatever the inside part of glasscat contains - vital for the glasscat to live
- no glasscat has the same filling, each is unique!
- can be filled to the brim or be somewhat empty
- simple organisms can dwell inside if the glasscat has resources to do so (ex. bugs, plants, shells, fish)
- only rare and specialty glasscats can have complex organisms (ex. rabbits, birds, squirell, mythical creatures)
- filling has to correlate to its element, but a slight characteristic of a different element is possible as long as it makes sense (ex. a small stream inside a forest glasscat)
- predicted that breeding can allow a mix or multiple elements to occur - needs more research
SIZE
correlates to average domestic cat, but deformations to size is common (regardless of rarity or element)

COMMON
the most abundant, these are commonly found being created in pottery companies and wandering around.

these can be handled by intermediate crafters and have distinguished characteristics.
- can have openings in body
- body part represents glasscat (ex. plant shaped tail)
- can contain simple organisms (ex. flowers, bugs, fish)
RARE
not seen often in the world, these glass cats are more respected than the rest.

- can contain complex organisms (ex. rabbits, mythical creatures)
SPECIALTY
only the five original terrarium glass cats have these characteristics.

- bodyshift - the inside parts of glasscat body can be filled with anything as long as it correlates to its terrarium.
- temperament - outer glass can be shaped to any size - can even take on the shape of bottles, containers and cups

SPECULO
the ultimate, one true ancestor of the glass cats. now does not exist in the world but his spirit is within each glasscat.
THE FIVE SPECIALTIES
speculo's direct children/copies. represents five terrains, or elements.
VITRE | earth | terrarium
vitre was the first glass cat to be created from speculo, thus the eldest of the specialties. she is the guardian of all forests, vital for replenishing life as she created forests and fields for many organisms to dwell in. she is almost full to the rim with rich magic soil that allowed plants to grow healthily and for agriculture. many farmers respect her and give sacrifices by her name for good luck with their harvests.

earth-element glasscats are also known as terrariums. they are the first glasscats to be created from speculo. these glass cats are the most domesticated as they served as great helpers to farmers in the agricultural world. powerful earth terrariums helped unlucky farmers and their crops or replenish entire forests. all have the ability to communicate with plants. they are generally very relaxed and easy going creatures, often helping out others as some can easily provide food. they are especially welcomed among the plant kingdom, and are usually seen camouflaged in gardens!

water based glasscats are called aquariums. they control water from lakes, streams, puddles, to even your tap water! because water is a vital resource for every organism, they are well respected among the animal kingdom. aquariums are generally not fond of humans as they cause epidemics such as global warming and water pollution that aquariums fight for! but even with their distaste of humans, they understand that all living things need them to live. they are loyal creatures and can grow to become great companions!

glasscats live as long as they dont decompose! their glass body may get old and crackly as they age, but with proper care this is easily avoidable! glass cats can live forever!CARE
